12/04/02 13:34for lunch i went to the merchandise mart and grabbed a cheesesteak from the great american steak and fry company. when i asked the guy what was on the cheesesteak, he said "onions, lettuce, tomato, [???], and cheese".

are their cheesesteaks any good there? whenever i'm craving, which is about once every few months, i usually head up to philly's best. when i was working downtown i passed by the great american cheesesteak place sometimes and always wondered about it. but i would never get a philly with lettuce and tomatoes, that's kinda fruity.

their cheesesteak reminded me of steak-ums with slices of provolone cheese. since i have nothing to compare it to, i really don't know how good it was. it seems to me there should have been a lot more cheese. i'll try one at philly's best and let you know.

fourth item = spinach? that doesn't seem like any cheesesteak i've had, but i can't make it sound like anything else. i also like the way the rhythm of his voice matches up perfectly with the rhythm of the spatula chopping up the steak and scraping the grill.
