sunday was very cold and windy, but the sun was finally shining. tired of being sick for over a week now, and tired of being cold for a few months too many, jes and i decided to head out to the Lincoln Park Conservatory. jes promised it would be warm and comfortable, reminiscent of warm summer day in the park. she was right. at nearly 80 degrees, i didn't want to leave.

in the fern room i got to hear a sound installation by walter faehndrich entitled Music for a Greenhouse. his electronic music composition, part of an ongoing series titled Music for Spaces, provides a lush soundscape that floats just behind the sounds of a water fountain and people talking as they make their way through the humid room.

listen

probably as a result of the high humidity of the greenhouse, or maybe due to age (the greenhouse first opened in 1893) the doors between the fern room and the orchid room makes a creaking noise as it swings open and shut.

listen

a little girl running back and forth in the greenhouse got a burst of energy from being around all the plants.
