driving in my car on the way down to take some pictures of factories, listening to 52 girls (the best b-52 song ever) this random interference made its way into my car. i turned down the radio and the sound was still coming through the speaker of my driver side door. naturally, i recorded it. it went on for a much longer time, but due to technical difficulties while recording, i only got this small snippet. jes, dave, and i decided that the sound came from a large truck with possibly the worlds largest antenna on the back. look at a picture of the truck and antenna over at j3s.net/photolog.

my brother and i used to pick up sounds like this on our walkie talkies when we were kids. we figured that the voices were truckers, so we said "10-4, you big dummies!" i think this agitated them, because they threatened to drive to our house and smack us silly. my brother and i decided it was a good time to switch to a different frequency.
